FriendShip Sailing group, Inc. was first discussed on a yacht off of the coast of St. Johns, USVI in 2002 and has taken co-owners John Schamante and Joe Coffey 5 years to develop into the service oriented organization that they had envisioned. Each of principals in the FriendShip Sailing Group brings unique attributes to the corporation that, together, form a group of companies sensitive to the wants, needs, and desires of today’s and tomorrows boaters.
John Schamante is a long time sailor and an entrepreneur who owns and manages a package printing company. John’s creativity and vision has allowed the development of several successful startup businesses. His current business is a result of developing a process that was revolutionary to his industry. That kind of forward and out of the” box “boat” thinking has helped develop the boating options FriendShip offers it’s clients.
Joe Coffey is a sailor and a recently retired manager of sales and consulting services for a major chemical consulting company. Joe brings the unique ability to solve problems and provides a technical slant to the company’s development and management. Together John and Joe have the insight, and resources to assure the growth and development of FriendShip sailing Group.
As the owners of the FriendShip Sailing Group, we are proud to introduce Chuck Hutchins, Eastern Michigan Operations Manager. As Operations Manager Chuck is able to utilize all aspects of his 30 years experience in the boating industry to assure that the clients of the FriendShip Sailing Group are provided the direction and guidance that will help them obtain the boat, boating equipment, and instruction that best fits their need and budget. Chuck brings a diversity of experience in both boat sales and boat maintenance that is invaluable to the customers of the FriendShip Sailing Group as they evaluate their boating options. If asked, Chuck would describe his job as helping his clients make the right decision on what and when to buy. He feels that having alternatives like fractional use or chartering helps make the process painless and simple.
